ACTIVE STEERING SYSTEM: MAN COMFORTSTEERING

The MAN ComfortSteering active steering system: supports the driver during steering and forms the basis for safety benefits through additional assistance systems such as the Lane Return Assist (LRA). The active adjustment of the steering forces to the speed ensures easy manoeuvring as well as improved directional stability at high speed.

Our active steering system reduces the strain on the driver depending on the driving situation

MAN ComfortSteering enhances the hydraulic steering system of your MAN truck with additional steering torque from an electric motor. The electronic control unit ensures that the ideal amount of electric steering force is provided reliably in every driving situation. Here, the sensors of the assistance system continuously evaluate the steering inputs as well as vehicle data such as speed and loading. Depending on the driving situation, this then allows the active steering system to support the driver’s steering movements by adding or subtracting steering torque. In addition, the steering wheel also returns to the central position independently if released.

When manoeuvring, the driver benefits from the power-assisting support of an additional electronic steering torque. This means your MAN truck can be manoeuvred with particularly high precision and little effort. At higher speed, the active steering system: reduces the steering force automatically by subtracting the electronic steering torque. This makes maintaining directional stability easier for the driver.

MAN ComfortSteering offers you a significant improvement in comfort when steering. A large steering wheel diameter is not necessary. Independent of the axle configuration, we always offer you the system in conjunction with a small steering wheel diameter of 460 mm and a more direct steering transmission ratio. With MAN ComfortSteering your truck also has the required base equipment to be able to benefit from further MAN assistance systems - for example our MAN Lane Return Assist (LRA).

MAN COMFORTSTEERING IS AVAILABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING MAN TRUCK MODELS

Exception: Four-axle vehicles with two steerable axles at the front.

Lane Guard Support (LGS) & Lane Return Assist (LRA)

Safely on track with the MAN lane assists: The Lane Guard Support (LGS) warns the driver if they accidentally leave the lane. The Lane Return Assist (LRA) actively intervenes if the vehicle leaves a lane without the indicator being operated.

Continuous Damping Control (CDC)

An excessively rapid lane change or heavy braking manoeuvre can already cause a truck to rock dangerously. Continuous Damping Control (CDC) activates the required damping, thereby actively reducing rocking movements.
